Porcelain Veneers

Dental Veneers are used to improve the beauty and strength of a patient's teeth. They cover the front teeth and often wrap over the edge of the teeth for added strength.

Veneers are generally made of porcelain (a glass-like material) or composite (a highly developed plastic material). Both porcelain veneers and composite veneers are excellent products. Your needs will help to determine which is the best option for you.

Porcelain Dental Veneers

Porcelain veneers are stain resistant and strong but inflexible. There are different types of porcelain veneers depending on your unique dental needs.  Veneers require less tooth structure removal which is an advantage over full crowns. Some require only a slight reduction of the tooth structure while others require more extensive reduction.

Dr. McCormick utilizes a dental lab to custom make the veneers to meet each patient's individual needs. While the veneers are being created at the lab, patients wear temporary veneers.  The final custom veneers are then bonded directly to the teeth. Porcelain veneers can last for many years, but do have a higher price tag than composite veneers.

Composite Dental Veneers

Composite veneers have the advantage of being completed in the same office visit.  The material is very flexible and can be shaped, adjusted and repaired easily. Composite veneers are less stain resistant than porcelain and do require more maintenance to keep them looking their best.

Make an appointment with Dr. McCormick today to have all of your questions answered. No matter which type of veneer is right for you, the result will be a beautiful smile.
